Seasons in Kabini

The forest changes its character with each season, offering unique experiences throughout the year. On average, Kabini’s forests are about 5°C cooler than the surrounding areas, so it’s best to plan and pack accordingly.

Winter (November to February): Crisp mornings and evenings make it the best time for wildlife sightings. Morning safaris can be chilly, so we recommend carrying jackets, sweaters, and warm layers. The air is clear, offering great visibility for photography.
Summer (March to May): With water sources drying up, animals congregate around the Kabini backwaters. This is the best season for spotting elephants and big cats. Days can be warm, so light cottons and sun protection are essential.
Monsoon (June to September): The forest turns lush and green, with a surge of bird activity and dramatic landscapes. Safaris during this time highlight the rejuvenated forest. Carry rain gear such as ponchos and waterproof jackets, and expect slushy trails.
Post-Monsoon (October): A transitional season with pleasant weather, refreshed landscapes, and excellent opportunities for both birding and big mammal sightings.
